About
Changing How Organizations Access Executive Leadership
VEXECS is an executive advisory firm. We help organizations bring in senior leadership at the point they need it — through fractional, interim, advisory, project and board engagements — and we help experienced executives apply their judgment across more than one company.
Business is changing. Organizations need access to executive leadership in more flexible ways, and experienced executives are building portfolio careers to match. VEXECS exists to connect those needs.
Why we exist
Executive Work Has Changed Faster Than the Ways of Buying It
The traditional route to executive leadership assumed one shape: a permanent role, a lengthy search, a full-time salary and an open-ended commitment. That model still works, and organizations will continue to need permanent executives. But it is no longer the only sensible answer, and for a growing number of situations it is not the fastest or the most proportionate one.
At the same time, a generation of highly experienced executives has decided that one seat is not the only way to work. They want their judgment applied to several problems, in several companies, at a level of intensity they control. That is a portfolio career, and it is now a deliberate choice rather than a transitional state.
What has been missing is a serious way of connecting the two. Job boards treat executives as applicants. Marketplaces treat them as inventory. Search firms are built for permanent hires and are structurally awkward when the answer is three days a month.
VEXECS exists to close that gap. We start with the business challenge, identify the leadership it actually requires, and build a structure around it. Sometimes that is a fractional executive. Sometimes it is a short advisory relationship. Sometimes it is telling a client to run a permanent search and helping them define the role first.
The brand
One Firm, Two Sides of the Same Work
Engaging VEXECS
Organizations come to us with a challenge rather than a job description. We work out what leadership the situation genuinely requires, how much of it, and for how long — then structure the engagement around that answer instead of a standard product.
Sometimes the answer is a fractional executive two days a week. Sometimes it is an interim leader through a transition, a project lead for a defined program, or an advisor a founder can call. The shape follows the problem.
The network
Joining VEXECS
Executives join the VEXECS network because they want their experience applied to real problems without returning to a single full-time seat. Membership costs nothing and carries no obligation to accept anything we bring.
Members are approached privately about specific situations, with the context needed to judge whether the work is worth their time. No profile is published, no list is sold, and no current employer is ever contacted.
Our approach
Six Principles We Work To
The challenge comes first
Before anyone discusses a title, a day rate or a structure, we want to understand what is actually happening in the business. A surprising number of engagements end up looking different from the initial request.
Judgment over volume
We would rather introduce two executives who have genuinely done the thing than twenty who look plausible on paper. Filtering is our job, not our clients’.
Executives are peers, not inventory
Members of the VEXECS network are approached about specific situations, with real context, and are free to decline. Nobody is broadcast to a list of employers.
Structural honesty
If a permanent hire is the right answer, we say so. If an engagement should end, or change shape, we say that too. Being useful matters more than extending a contract.
Commercial flexibility
Engagements can be managed by VEXECS or contracted directly between the organization and the executive. We do not force one route to protect a margin.
Relationships outlast engagements
Most of what we know about an executive comes from years of conversation, not from a form. The network compounds because we stay in touch when there is nothing to sell.
Built around relationships, executive judgment and the belief that the right leadership model depends on the challenge.
We do not publish client logos or testimonials. Much of this work is confidential, and a wall of badges would tell you less about how we think than the pages on this site already do.
Conflict management
Handled Openly, Before an Introduction
- Executives in the network may work with more than one organization, and often do.
- Competitive overlap must be disclosed and considered before an introduction is made.
- Existing employer policies on outside advisory and board activity must be respected.
- Confidentiality obligations from current and previous roles continue to apply.
- Product advisory work requires assessment of both direct and indirect conflicts.
- Complementary — rather than competing — organizations can sometimes be appropriate, with agreed boundaries.
- Every situation is assessed individually rather than against a fixed rule.
- We do not guarantee that a proposed engagement will be conflict-free until it has been reviewed.
How and Where We Work
Geography
Engagements are arranged internationally. Much of this work is effective remotely, and where regular on-site presence matters we say so before an introduction rather than after.
Functions
The network spans the full executive team — from CEO and CFO through technology, security, product, revenue, operations, people, data and legal. Availability in any given function varies over time.
Sponsorship and events
We host and support a small number of executive roundtables and events. Sponsorship conversations are welcome and are handled through contact.
Independence
VEXECS is an advisory firm rather than a recruitment agency. We are not paid to place people, and we have no incentive to recommend an engagement where none is needed.
